Her Story, Olaide

What began as a simple Instagram message quietly became the beginning of our love story. He reached out first, but because his account was private, I ignored the message at first. He kept replying to my stories—sometimes I responded, sometimes I didn’t.

Then, as fate would have it, our paths crossed at a rave, where he mistakenly approached my sister thinking she was me, asking why I had ignored his messages. Once she realized who he meant, she brought him over.

Although we didn’t stay in touch immediately, life brought us together again at a family friend’s event, who happened to be his best friend. We exchanged numbers, started talking properly, and from there, everything changed.

His Story, Olumuyiwa

It was a Sunday morning like any other when I spotted her across the aisle, and it felt like a spotlight had been turned on. Her smile could light up the whole room, but I couldn’t talk to her.

Fast forward, I found myself in her DMs a few times without much response. And the we met at a party, where I mistook her sister for her because of the striking resemblance. Not long after, a friend of mine came from the USA, and while telling him about her, we somehow ended up at her mum’s shop there she was again, with that same lovely, contagious smile, though we still didn’t talk.

We met again at a family friend’s party and later exchanged contacts at a naming ceremony. Our first date was a casual cocktail hangout, and right then I knew I couldn’t let her out of my sight. By God’s grace, here we are today, building a life together.
